Worn hood hinges 59 Fury

Postby HRD on Thu May 21, 2009 1:00 am

Hello,

I am restoring a 59 Plymouth Sport Fury. The hood hinge pins are badly so that the hood is difficult to lift without binding at the bottom. Can someone direct me to a source for new hinges or the hing pins so that I can rebuild the original hinges?

About the car. It is sporting a 331 Hemi with 3x2 intake, Lunati solid lift cam, custom center sump pan, Vintage air, custom front accessory drive, pushbutton controls with a modern overdrive trans, and many more mods. You can see the pics on my website at http://www.hotroddynamics.com

Thanks,

Joe

First Off Joe, WELCOME to the CCC Brother....As for the Hood hinges, I don't know of anyone but you might Try Big M Auto (John- - screen name "BigM") as he has about anything you would ever want and if he doesn't have it, he soon will find it.....Deffinately good people if you would like to go the replacement route...

Hey Joy welcome to the CCC, I have a couple of pr of hinges for a 58. I think 58 and 59 are the same I'm not absolutely sure I would have to check them out to see how good they are.

I checked your car out on your site and it sure is sweet. Bob :) :D

That car of yours Joe is fantastic . That accessory bracket is a work of custom art. It somehow reminds me of a Klingon hand to hand combat weapon from early Star Trek movies.

Joe,

Jason is correct about the '57-'59 Plymouth hood hinges being the same. I have about eight '59's here for parts as well.

Some of these cars were built using a 1/8" shim at the lower stud which fastens the hood at the firewall. not sure if it was an assembly issue, or a build plant issue, but some of the cars do need to have these.
