Ok guys here you go. I went over to Charlie!s shop for the first time. He is only about three miles from my house. He has finally settled here a bit in Idaho, he has a couple of cars he is working on right now for California customers. One Is a Henry J and the other is a 37 Ford. Man talk about body work. That is out of sight. I had my 63 Dodge done by him,( I don!t have anymore.) about 15 years ago, I think he was only 23 or 24 years old at the time. Him and his brother Harley sort of treated me like a father figure. I would come in and check on my car and bring them a Hamburger and soda pop. They sort of got spoiled and expected it every time; LOL

It was sort of funny to think of it now but, it took them a while to get started on my Dodge. I would come down to the shop and two or three days later I would come in again and no work done on the car. So one Saturday morning I came in and they had pulled a 55 cheby in to work on( Im not that found of 55 chebby's,
anyways) So I let them have it about half joking and half serious. " I said here my Dodge has been sitting here for a month and you haven!t touched it and you pulled a (&&*&^^%$$^&^$@#@%^&*55Cheby in front of it (&^%%%^&& what to hellis going on here and they started laughing. I came back in there about three days later and they had shown a lot of progress on my car and worked on it till it was finished.

Charlie done the body work on my 58 , but he was in the process of moving to California and going to Work for Boyd. So he didn!t get to paint it. Darn.

I know a big portion of you members knows who Charlie Hutton is, but for the ones that don!t know. He is one of those home town guys that made a name and reputation for himself in the Auto Body and Paint Business

He started out working for Boyd Coddington and later Chip Foose. He was on the TV show Overhauling. He was one of the painters that won the Ridler Award I beleive it was 2005 with a 37 Ford Chip Foose Designed.

Here is a Picture Of Charlie and Yours truly, The reason I Usally take my picture with Dark glasses is because I almost always shut my eyes when I take a picture. Ok my eyes were ok but look at my lips LOL, They always say the camera doesnt lie.

Im going to stop here for a while and get some work done on my old motor home getting it ready for the oldies races before it gets too hot. It is getting up in the 90!s here in Idaho now. Hard on an old man LOL.

This is the Detroit Autorama Ridler Award. I am not 100% positive I don!t want to make a lier out of myself but I believe this is the top award for a Show-car. This was one in 2005 Chip Foose was the Designer and This is the car that Charlie Hutton was working on when He changed Jobs from Boyd to Chip Foose.. Boyd didn!t like it because Charlie was Helpin Chip work on it so he told him He could work for him or Chip. So he went to work for Chip , I think that was a great decisiion.

Here is the Car It is a 36 Ford.You can see why the Car was such a winner. Charlie Was one of Several Painters on the car.

Man what a beauty. I would love to put the petal to the metal and go through the quarter mile in this car. I know a lot of you guys have heard the same thing.
I have people tell me, If I had that car I wouldn!t drive it . Its too nice ect. I tell them I don!t only drive it I race. They think I am crazy but I say. " That is what I built it for is to have fun in.My most fun Is at the Drag=strip. I don!t think I could even buy a win anymore. But I am still having fun. I have raced for almost 50 years. I haven!t quit yet.
I told Eva the way I would like to go out of this world is to have just made the Final Roundd in a big race. Have a heart attack at the end of the quarter mile stop the car safe where she can sell it and have the money out of it LOL. Yes I am always confused and surprised.

I believe Charlie was only 23 Years old at the time.

Charlie is a natural on cutting and buffing. It is great to see a proffesional at work. They make every stroke count.

Im glad you enjoyed it Jase, That is an Old Oklahomian Accent, I'm sure I would like yours also. Have you ever heard of a guy there in Australia called Modlel A Dave. He comes here to Firebird Raceway just about every year. He may be there for the Oldie!s race. He is a neat guy. He has a Diomond in one of his front teeth.

Well I'll be damned....Bobby, you REALLY came through for the CCC this time!! Wow Bob!!!! Charlie was my favorite on American Hotrod. I recall seeing him on an episode of Overhaulin with Chip Foose but was curious as to what he was doing these days. Looks like an absolutely phenominal shop he built there. I assume he's working for himself. Please thank him for the Hello to the CCC and give him our best.

Yes John Charley is Doing a couple of cars for California Customers. One is a Henry J and the other is a 36 Ford I believe it is a Humpback. I didn!t go in the work area because sanders and things, he has two people helping him on the body but I'm sure he is the one that puts all the final paint on. He didn!t want me to take pictures of the work area on account of customers security. He said he has to go back to Calif. and do some work on one of Chips projects. He said he still loved what he is doing. I Imagine it is a whole lot better then when he painted my 63 about 14 or 15 years ago. He was thinking about giving it up / I think myself and a lot of other people encouraged him to keep on going and he made it. Charley has not changed one bit since his fame. He always has a smile on his face. I can!t really think of anybody else right now that has made it big from Idaho except Paul Revere, from Paul Revere and the Raiders and Mark Lindsay his original Lead singer.

Yes Charlie is a natural, hr makes every stroke count., I done some body work on my 55 Dodge several years ago and the guy that was going to finish it said first he would have to take out the work I done So there went my body work carrer. Im a fair paiter but leave the body work to the guys that know what they are doing
